  • Every year, during September — National Suicide Prevention Month — the construction industry dedicates a week to raising awareness about the unique challenges workers face in construction, how it can lead to suicide, and what we can do to prevent it.    September 9-13 is Construction Suicide Prevention Week, and #TeamOGS is joining the industry to raise awareness, promote prevention, and unite in support of mental health.    With a suicide rate that is four times greater than the national average, the construction industry is facing a crisis. The sector faces unique challenges, including high stress, demanding work conditions, and a culture that often stigmatizes seeking help.    The OGS Design & Construction Group is a 500-person unit with countless projects and partners, so breaking the silence, offering support, and fostering a safer, healthier environment for all workers in New York is a top priority.    🫶 The New York State Office of Mental Health 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline connects you to trained crisis counselors 24/7. They can help anyone thinking about suicide, struggling with substance use, experiencing a mental health crisis, or any other kind of emotional distress. 📲 Call, text, or chat 988 if you are worried about someone you care about who may need crisis support: https://lnkd.in/ei6gnTtE    🔗 Visit the Construction Suicide Prevention Week Resource Library for webinars, toolkits, and more: https://lnkd.in/gidHnj5j

  • #TeamOGS takes pride in building bridges! 🌉 Sometimes figuratively and other times literally. In this case, with State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, it’s very much literal. Following severe flooding in Newcomb last year, the OGS Design & Construction emergency construction team worked quickly to install a temporary bridge. Just a year later, we are happy to see this new permanent bridge in place, so SUNY ESF will have full access to its Newcomb campus once more. This new bridge means full access to the only vehicle bridge into the vast Huntington Wildlife Forest, which local responders and DEC forest rangers must use for emergencies in the state forest in the Southern High peaks. The flood damage included: •Replacing 69 culverts •Seven miles of washed-out road •Three bridges (two were pedestrian bridges) OGS’s Design & Construction crew has been on the project since the emergency began, onsite daily, organizing the repair of the roads, culverts, and bridges. Join us in giving our team a big hand! Thank you for your work. It’s crucial and appreciated. 👏

Last Saturday, the NYS Office of Language Access (OLA) spent the day at the free Immigrant Resource Fair in East New York’s Abraham Lincoln Middle School, organized by New York City Council Member Sandy Nurse of District 37 in partnership with El Puente Presente & Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation. Over 300+ people came by to chat with reps from 50 organizations, sign up for #IDNYC, and learn about employment opportunities, work permits, housing resources, #OSHA classes, and more. The OLA team was there to educate New Yorkers about their language access rights. Millions of New Yorkers do not speak English as their primary language and have limited ability to read, speak, write, or understand English, presenting potential barriers to accessing essential government programs and services. The OLA provides critical oversight and coordination across New York State agencies to ensure that the statewide language access policy. 🔗 Know your language access rights: on.ny.gov/3zcHjTY 📸 🎠 This photo carousel features: 1.
