District 119 celebrates our two Toastmaster of the Year award winners, Mueed Kumandan, MSAF and Azad Zubair for their volunteer work last year! During the 7/1/2023-6/30/2024 fiscal year, we had two newer Toastmasters who both exhibited extraordinary commitment to their clubs and to the District in remarkable ways. ✨ Mueed Kumandan, MSAF, District Toastmaster of the Year, stepped up without hesitation to serve a key role on our Audit Committee, using his talents to ensure that we made responsible decisions with our spending. Mueed also stepped up to lead his club as President at a time when they needed to grow to remain viable. Not only did the club grow, the members embraced the Distinguished Club Program and the club became President’s Distinguished for the first time in their history as a result of this young leader’s tenacity.💫 Congratulations Mueed Kumandan, MSAF & congrats to his District 119 Toastmasters Club, NYSSCPA Toastmasters! ✨ Azad Zubair, District Toastmaster of the Year, stepped forward when a local non-profit organization approached us to lead what would become our first formalized Youth Leadership Program (YLP) in District 119 history. During the course of the 8-week YLP, Azad showed up without fail to train and guide a group of spirited teenagers on the Lower East Side. As a first-time Club President of our ONLY CLUB WITH A WAITING LIST of members, Azad embraced the Distinguished Club Program and led his club back to President’s Distinguished for the first time in several years.
