Group EVP and CEO, Americas Region at Ørsted

Last week, I had the privilege of returning to my alma mater, NYU Stern School of Business, to talk with MBA and MPA students about finding their ‘moonshot’. These are the lofty tasks, the ambitious projects, the dreams that become reality through a combination of creativity, perseverance, and determination. My moonshot is America’s clean energy transition. And as I said last Friday, I hope that many of these bright, up-and-coming business leaders will join me and countless other professionals in advancing American renewables. About 15 years ago, when I first started working in the clean energy industry, it was considered a small, niche area. Since then, hundreds of renewable energy projects have been built across the United States, from solar farms, to battery storage facilities, to offshore wind farms. What was unimaginable in 2009 is standard in 2024. And I’m equally certain that today’s moonshot clean energy projects will seem standard by 2039. So, how do we get there? With the help of the next generation. It’s my hope to see students with backgrounds in policy, business, finance, marketing, engineering, and more join the renewables sector. It’s an extraordinary chance to transform American energy, push for a cleaner environment, influence a growing industry, and shoot for the moon on what’s considered possible. My thanks to NYU Stern Social Impact and Sustainability Association and the Wagner Social Innovation and Investment Alliance for hosting, to Sinziana Dorobantu for the discussion, and to the students for their thoughtful questions. I hope to cross paths with you all again – at NYU, at Ørsted, or anywhere in the clean energy space.   https://us.orsted.com/   Photo by Adam Fontana
