The last remaining independent nonprofit hospital in the Greater Houston area.
Über uns
OakBend Medical Center is the last remaining independent, nonprofit hospital in the Greater Houston area, providing exceptional service with its three hospitals and many specialty centers. OakBend follows an innovative model of care that makes the patient the captain of the care team, up-ending the traditional approach to nursing where the doctors and nurses act as leaders of the team. This patient-centered care drives OakBend’s services and programs, including its signature No Wait ER, an advanced trauma center and the Jack and Billie Wendt Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) unit. We remain committed to developing the very best ways to care for our patients, ensuring a healthy future for generations to come. For more information, please visit www.oakbendmedcenter.org. This past weekend, OakBend’s Board of Directors and Executive team attended the Texas Healthcare Trustees Governance Conference in San Antonio, TX! Here are some of the highlights: - Ashley Bellew, our Senior Administration Manager, received the prestigious 2024 Ollie Jo Boseman Excellence in Administrative Professionalism Award! - Ashley also led a panel on Best Practices in Governance, sharing insights on diverse governance structures and overcoming challenges. - Joe Freudenberger, our CEO, spoke on a panel about minimizing the impact of cyberattacks. He shared proactive strategies to bolster hospital cybersecurity, including robust backup systems and employee training. We’re thrilled to have participated in this conference, sharing and gaining valuable knowledge to better serve our community.
