#EngagedLibraries help students learn, create, and connect. 🧠 In schools across the US and Canada, school librarians are helping kids kick off a new year of learning and engagement. And that work involves a lot more than dusting off book displays. WebJunction built A School Librarian’s Information Shelf to support school librarians in evolving spaces for students. Fifteen school libraries participated in this transformation project and helped inform the Information Shelf resources, including CeDIn Laboratory School Library in Puerto Rico which turned its library into a learning hub focused on STEM learning. As the foundation for our “concept” entities, this Dewey linked data provides subject classifications to Works entities in WorldCat Entities, creating a layer of new relationships for knowledge graphs that power discovery. There is a lot of buzz in the library community about the latest incarnation of artificial intelligence (AI) tools. In this #HangingTogether blog post, Richard Urban, Senior Program Officer at #OCLCresearch, recaps an OCLC Research Library Partnership Metadata Managers Focus Group discussion on how they are getting ready for this new wave of AI in their libraries. "During our conversation, the Metadata Managers shared how they are responding to the internal and external forces emerging from the conversations around AI," Richard writes. #EngagedLibraries grow together. 🌱 Denison Public Library recently cut the ribbon on its new courtyard garden. Community members and groups pitched in to make the new garden possible, including Twin Oaks Nursery, which donated plants and materials. Volunteers from Denison High School, Denison Parks and Recreation, and the Texas Workforce Commission came together to prepare the soil, make repairs and upgrades to the space, and install the new plants. The new garden offers space to sit outside and read, and opportunities for children to learn about gardening in a hands on environment. 📲 We want to know how your library helps community members explore their green thumbs.
