We’re staying green and winning gold at Olivia Hospital & Clinic! We recently earned our second Greenhealth Emerald award from Practice Greenhealth, the nation’s leading organization dedicated to environmental stewardship in health care. This award honors organizations that have shown commitment to improving environmental performance and advancing sustainable practices. And it’s not just us! Our surgery colleagues recently hosted a group of fifth graders at the hospital, giving them an insider's view of the surgery center. The students were fully engaged as they explored everything from pre-op to post-op, guided by nurses and surgery techs. "Allowing them to interact in our surgical setting opens a door to a new profession that might interest them in the future," says Baily Fischer, RN. "Our surgical setting showcases many different roles and career options." Last year, Olivia colleagues had visited the school, where students dressed up as surgeons as part of a math unit. To reciprocate, they invited the fifth graders to experience the surgery center firsthand.
