Proud + loud has always been bigger than us – we’re excited to announce that Omsom has been acquired by DayDayCook, a leader in Asian food brands + a fellow Asian woman-run business 🎉 As the daughters of Vietnamese refugees, we (Vanessa + Kim) launched Omsom 4 years ago with a mission – to reclaim + celebrate the multitudes in Asian flavors and stories. We are so proud of what our small + mighty team has accomplished: ⚡️ 10+ damn delicious Asian pantry staples 👋🏽 4.6M+ products sold 🙌🏽 200k+ strong in our community 🗞️ 20B+ press impressions 💰 $100k+ paid in royalties to our Asian chef partners 📺 10+ national TV appearances Despite this, it is no secret that startups are facing tons of challenges right now - and as we always do, we centered in our values when we made the decision on best to take agency over our future. As we considered what our team needed – a faster product innovation process + ability to scale into retail – we knew that an acquisition by DDC would give us the resources to keep growing as a household name 🙏🏽 We’re not going anywhere – Omsom will operate independently within DDC (alongside fellow Asian-owned grocery store faves Yai's Thai + Nona Lim!). what does it look like to trust your intern with an entire marketing campaign? 🤔 Omsom recently dropped a new bucket hat + t-shirt — and the entire vision was driven by our intern Justin! a couple weeks out from launch, we tasked him with the campaign + gave him a small budget — and he smashed it 🎊 he worked with his predominantly Asian, NYC-based dance team to choreograph a launch video and shoot photos on film — all to tell the story of our new proud + loud merch 🔥 the campaign landed us some CPG industry love — goes to show that being scrappy (+ trusting your team) can go a long way 🙏🏽 you can check out his work here https://lnkd.in/emQRjXy7 and buy the drop at www.omsom.com 🖤
