On Lok is thrilled to have been selected to present at the 2024 National Ryan White Conference on HIV Care & Treatment last week in DC. The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) HIV/AIDS Bureau hosts the national conference every two years to deliver program and policy updates, share innovative HIV interventions, and provide training and technical assistance. On Lok proudly presented on our Openhouse + On Lok Community Day Services program for LGBTQ+ seniors, which was awarded $85,000 as part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service’s HIV and Aging Challenge. The award supported On Lok in offering scholarships to three Community Day Services clients living with HIV, and in developing a trauma-informed caregiver training for providers working with long-term HIV survivors. #NWRC2024 #aging #LGBTQIA #seniors

On Lok launched the first Chinese Aging Mastery Program in the nation yesterday. The Aging Mastery Program, created by the National Council on Aging, is a 10-week course to help seniors master the art of aging well. Held in partnership with OMI Senior Center, Dr. Ben Lui, On Lok's Chief Medical Officer, inaugurated the series with an insightful discussion on the importance of effectively navigating longer lives. The program aims to give participants practical knowledge and resources to enhance their quality of life as they age, and will include a diverse lineup of experts, each addressing a key aspects of aging well, including: ✅ Medication Management - Lenny L.S. On Lok was delighted to host the AWARD Network for its first Summer Training Institute earlier this month. The Advancing Workforce Analysis and Research for Dementia (AWARD) Network is dedicated to advancing research on the healthcare workforce that supports individuals living with dementia. This collaborative initiative involves researchers from the UCSF Phillip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies (IHPS), Healthforce Center at UCSF, UCSF School of Nursing, Center for Health Workforce Studies at University of Washington, and the Public Health Institute. Funded by the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and based at the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies, the week-long training program aimed to equip early-stage researchers—including doctoral candidates, post-doctoral scholars, and assistant professors—with essential knowledge and skills related to health workforce research and dementia care. #training #aging #dementia #alzheimers #research #healthcareworkers
