  • One of the things we enjoy the most is connecting — Connecting with our members and our community, and facilitating connections among the same. Some connections were made at our Community Gathering and Mini Resource Fair earlier this month, but even if you weren't able to make it, we still want you to know about the organizations who are reaching out directly to the LGBTQ+ professional community in Oregon and SW Washington. See our most recent blog post for an introduction to Paid Leave Oregon, the Office of Small Business Assistance, US Small Business Administration, and the amazing Small Business Development Center at Portland Community College. Calling all BIPOC entrepreneurs: The Community Economic Coalition (CEC) is surveying Oregon businesses owned by people of color to gather input for their CEC Campus project. The project aims to build a BIPOC-oriented business hub providing resources and economic opportunity to underrepresented communities. What spaces and uses would be best for this project? The CEC Campus survey (bit.ly/cec-campus) is open NOW until Aug 23 and is available in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese. The CEC includes Northwest Native Chamber (NWNC), Black American Chamber of Commerce (BACC), Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce (HMC), and the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Oregon (PACCO).

  • For the same reasons you may seek out an affirming healthcare provider or attorney, working with a culturally-competent Financial Planner can make otherwise anxiety-inducing conversations feel that much safer, and be more honest and productive. We are partnering with member Ara Serjoie, Ph.D., CFRE to offer his virtual education series on Financial Planning for the LGBTQ+ Community.  Attend one or all of the four sessions, and bring your individual- and business- related questions about investment strategies for retirement, estate planning for individuals and families (whether nuclear-appearing or no), planning for long-term care costs, and making an investment strategy that works for your business. All sessions are open for registration on our website at orpib.com/upcoming-events. The first session in this series, Retirement By Design, will be held on Sept 11 at noon via Zoom. • Financial planning is important for everyone, yet not necessarily always an easy or seamless undertaking. This is especially true for us as members of the LGBTQIA community, keeping in mind our unique needs as we plan for a secure and comfortable financial future.  LGBT Retirement by Design Seminar illustrates how you can help translate one's vision for retirement into tangible goals. Whether someone is 10 or 40 years from retirement, LGBT investors will learn investment strategies to help design the retirement they want.  You'll also discuss how you can add flexibility to their strategy to help them handle unexpected events and how you can keep their strategy on track.  Register here: https://lnkd.in/gG8wNrCz

SEO can be a bit like trying to build a puzzle without knowing what it's supposed to look like. 🙃And also, you're trying to put it together in the dark.  In other words, SEO can be confusing AF!  So what’s a simple bite-size SEO tip you can tackle?  👉Update your website's content regularly. It doesn’t have to be a heavy overhaul, either! It can be as simple as: - adding a blog post - make sure all the info you're presenting is current - adding new testimonials - updating photos  Your goal is just to show Google, "Hey, I'm still out here, and I mean business!" When you add or update content, you give Google something new to look at, which boosts your credibility. 👍 So, if it's been a while since you updated or posted new content, hop on over to your website to add a blog post or update your outdated portfolio page. #SearchEngineOptimization #WebsiteMaintenance #Google #Algorithm #WebsiteTips
