The position is responsible for identifying potential vessel hazards associated with deck operations and advising the Master accordingly, notifying the Master immediately of any defects that may affect vessel safety or put the environment at risk, inspecting and maintaining environmental and safety-related equipment on board the tug and record inspections in the appropriate log, and more.
