Today, the #PresidioBay Foundation would like to highlight one of our key mentors this summer for the Presidio Scholars - Lucille Ynosencio, Director of Architecture at OTJ Architects. 🙌 OTJ Architects is an architecture firm that specializes in the next generation of people-focused design solutions that outpace even the most rapidly changing real estate landscapes nationwide. They are an is an essential sponsor to the Presidio Bay Foundation. Guion Childress, AIA, Rex Crabb, Haonan Jia, Yitian, Natalie Reeve Davidson and countless colleagues on the OTJ team worked with each scholar team closely on designing elevated and lifelike renderings for their final development pitches. Following this summer, Lucy emphasized “I loved every part of this program from the beginning to the energetic end when the students were beaming during their final presentations. I'm so proud of them. I commend the students and the foundation for this important work of investing in young leaders. The effort and distance traveled over the summer is bright and clear!” Our Presidio Scholars Mentorship Initiative is a key pillar to the foundation. Set to open this fall, Wye Oak Tavern sits at the heart of Visitation Frederick, an OTJ-designed mixed-use hotel and condominium destination converted from an historic all-girls academy. The restaurant, a high-concept, steakhouse helmed by Bryan and Michael Voltaggio of "Top Chef" fame, promises culinary delights as well as architectural gestures that reinterpret historic elements of the original chapel through a contemporary lens.

Project Spotlight: Chase Bank Union Market Just steps away from DC's vibrant Union Market, the Chase Bank interior fit-out included a new storefront, offices, teller stations, communal spaces, and more. The GCS-SIGAL team executed a design that aligns with JPMorgan Chase standards, complete with high-end finishes including demountable glass partitions, large format ceiling tile, and wood grain laminated millwork. This new Chase Bank location supports the needs of people who are deaf or hard of hearing, offering staff that can communicate in the American Sign Language as well as T-loop Bluetooth technology and Sorenson tablets that allows bankers and customers to interact directly with interpreters. We are thrilled to celebrate our partnership with the Presidio Scholars Summer Program, a 10-week summer course that pairs aspiring real estate development professionals with organizations like OTJ to explore disciplines that range from Architecture, Public Policy, Finance, and Construction Management - and even more career pathways! The program is led by Presidio Bay Foundation: the philanthropic branch of Presidio Bay Ventures, a commercial real estate developer, adept at new construction and major renovation projects alike, which is headquartered in San Francisco. Experienced OTJ mentors, including Lucille Ynosencio, AIA, Guion Childress, AIA, Rex Crabb, AIA, Haonan Jia, Yitian Ma, Natalie Reeve Davidson, LEED AP, and India Hartwell shared their knowledge with students as they explored what it means to be a professional in this industry. The program culminated in a capstone project in which teams proposed development concepts to a panel of seasoned real estate leaders, showcasing knowledge and skills accrued with mentors over the summer. You can view renderings from each of the teams below. We are immensely proud of these budding young professionals and can’t wait to see what the future holds for them!
