Congratulations Tara Luker, BSN, RN, MICU, Parkview Hospital Randallia, for being recognized for extraordinary nursing with a DAISY Award® from The DAISY Foundation. Her nominator highlighted how Tara helped her hospitalized mother do her heair and get cleaned up for family visiting from out of town. “This is a physical manifestation of the difference a good nurse makes, one who cares for their patients, one for whom nursing is a calling, not just a job. They make the situation a little bit better. They can even bring some joy into a dark situation.” Read the full nomination here: https://bit.ly/4giJOVX Way to go, Tara! You make us #parkviewproud

Last week, Parkview Packnett Family Cancer Institute co-workers gathered to remember five former team members who are no longer with us. “A dear co-worker passed away, and another co-worker, who was her best friend and worked alongside her, was processing the grief,” Fayth Hanes, manager, Concierge Services, PFCI, said. “She suggested we honor all those who worked at PFCI and passed. We got the idea approved and ran with it.” A committee of cancer institute leaders–Fayth, Jana Vastbinder, Susie O’Shaughnessy, Heather Sparks, Jamie Conrad, Sara Bradtmueller and Jennifer Boleyn–most of whom were close to one of the deceased team members, came together to make arrangements. All PFCI co-workers and the families of those who passed were invited to gather in the Healing Garden for a brief ceremony. “Remarkably and incredibly, members of all five co-workers’ families were there,” Fayth said.   The committee collaborated with Wendy Brown, owner of Paint the Town Graphics, on the design and creation of the customized artwork, a beautiful tree. Jana and Susie, both PFCI chaplains, led the blessing and message for the gathering. “It truly was a blessing,” Fayth shared. The Parkview Packnett Family Cancer Institute family invites you to join them in honoring the lives and legacies of former team members:   Matt Thomas, RN Brian Silva, EVS II Jason Gillum, MD, JD John N. Parkview Health has been once again honored by NRC Health with the 2024 Excellence in Patient Experience Award, marking the second consecutive year Parkview has been recognized among top-performing hospitals and health systems in the nation for their excellence in delivering outstanding patient experiences across the continuum of care. Parkview Health was selected as the No. 1 overall medium-sized hospital network by NRC Health, while Parkview Ortho Hospital was also selected as the top specialty hospital. Recipients join an elite group of winners who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to improving the care experience, earning top satisfaction ratings from patients and their families. Winners are annually selected based on receipt of exceptional, real-time patient feedback using Net Promoter Scores (NPS). NPS is a standardized index that measures customer satisfaction and loyalty. “Patient feedback is the best way for our providers to gauge how we’re serving our communities,” said Tanya Hammon, director of patient experience, Parkview Health. “We use that feedback throughout the year to review our practices and make adjustments, which helps our facilities provide high-quality care and a world-class experience.” The Excellence in Patient Experience Award is given to a hospital system or individual facility based on size. Parkview Health won this year’s medium health system award, given to one provider with five to 24 hospitals measuring across the continuum of care. The specialty hospital award was given to one winner out of 147 eligible facilities served by NRC Health. The award is based on scores for the “Would Recommend Facility” question in patient surveys during the time period of April 1, 2023, through March 31, 2024. Surveys are an important tool for Parkview’s Patience Experience team, which utilizes that feedback to recognize service lines that are providing an exceptional experience for their patients, uncover challenges, or make improvements. “This recognition is special because it comes as a direct result of the experiences that our patients have at our many Parkview facilities,” said Dena Jacquay, chief administrative officer, Parkview Health. “These excellent experiences–whether at our top specialty hospitals like Parkview Ortho Hospital to our community facilities or numerous physician offices–don’t happen without the dedication, skill and compassionate care of our more than 16,000 co-workers.” Parkview contracts with NRC Health as a third-party vendor to distribute, collect, aggregate and analyze responses from post-visit questionnaires completed with patients via email, text or phone. Patients provide ratings for different aspects of their recent visit and also have the opportunity to add comments about their experience. In 2023, more than 277,000 patient surveys were completed by patients. #PatientExperience #HealthCareExcellence

Parkview Health has been named to the Forbes list of America’s Best-In-State Employers 2024, ranking No. 25 out of 75 companies included on Indiana’s list. It’s the third consecutive year Parkview has made the Forbes list, previously ranking No. 10 in 2023 and No. 26 in 2022. “Parkview is committed to continuing to build and grow a culture of excellence, providing excellent care to every person, every day,” said Rick Henvey, CEO, Parkview Health. “Fulfilling that commitment means both providing the highest-quality care to our patients at the best value and creating the best environment for our more than 16,000 co-workers who provide that care. We’re proud to be recognized among Indiana’s best employers.” This prestigious award is presented by Forbes and Statista Inc., the leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider. America's Best-In-State Employers 2024 have been identified in an independent survey from a vast sample of over 160,000 employees working for companies employing at least 500 people within the U.S. The ranking is open to companies from all industry sectors. Around 4.4 million employer evaluations were considered. The ranking looks at three years of data, allowing for a robust differentiation between organizations that consistently perform well and those that may only have had a single good year. An employer's final score is determined on a state-by-state basis and is built upon two sources including personal evaluations, employees’ willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family, and public evaluations, recommendations from friends and family members of employees, or members of the public who work in the same industry. Parkview was the top-ranked employer headquartered in northeast Indiana on this year’s list, joined by fellow Fort Wayne-based Steel Dynamics Inc. at No. 50. “We believe that by taking excellent care of our co-workers, we ensure that they’re equipped and engaged to fully focus on taking excellent care of those they serve,” said Dena Jacquay, chief administrative officer, Parkview Health. “Our leaders go directly to the source, listening to feedback directly from our co-workers to help us stay in tune with their needs and ideas for improvement. Those efforts have helped us become a national leader in not only culture, but also quality and patient experience as we hear feedback straight from the frontlines.” On top of competitive pay and strong benefits, Parkview offers numerous additional perks to co-workers, including programs like the quarterly “lifestyle benefit” stipend; co-worker contests and giveaways; an employee well-being department (named a Best and Brightest in Wellness for six consecutive years) that offers numerous physical and mental health programs for co-workers; flexible work arrangements for eligible departments; and innovative support like the Parkview Pups therapy dog program.

Parkview Health and Orthopaedics NorthEast (ONE) broke ground on a new orthopedic ambulatory surgery center (ASC) and medical office building in Warsaw on Tuesday, Aug. 20. The new facilities will be located on C.R. 200 N, just north of Parkview Kosciusko Hospital (PKH). Construction on the 14,750-square-foot ASC, Parkview Kosciusko SurgeryONE, is tentatively scheduled to be completed by October 2025, along with a Parkview Physicians Group clinic and ONE clinic next door. “ONE and Parkview share a lasting commitment to delivering exceptional orthopedic care,” said ONE President Dr. Chris Johnson. “We look forward to bringing that level of care to the Warsaw community, with fellowship-trained, subspecialized surgeons.” Parkview Kosciusko SurgeryONE will offer a broad range of outpatient orthopedic surgeries, including total joint replacements, sports medicine procedures like ACL reconstruction, and surgeries for the spine, hand, and upper extremities. “With state-of-the-art equipment, patients can now benefit from less invasive surgery and quicker recovery times,” said Dr. Alan McGee, president, Parkview Health Orthopedics. “We’re excited to continue expanding the range of care options offered to residents in Kosciusko County.” The new facilities are Parkview’s latest investment in Kosciusko County. After recently completing an expansion that doubled the size of the former Parkview Warsaw, the new Parkview Kosciusko Hospital opened to the public in January 2024. Parkview opened a new occupational health and shared employer clinic on Mariners Drive in November 2023. "More and more residents in Kosciusko County are selecting Parkview as their preferred healthcare provider, and we're committed to meeting that growing demand," said Scott Gabriel, market president, Parkview Health Northwest. "The opening of our new surgery center, along with new physician and orthopedic offices, will enhance our ability to serve the community and provide high-quality care close to home."   The ceremony included a welcome address, comments from physician leaders, and a blessing before the board of trustee members, staff and special guests broke ground at the site.
