Today is National Senior Citizen's Day. Did you know that many seniors face unique challenges that make it difficult to maintain a healthy diet? These challenges can be related to their health, finances, or living situation. In fact, nearly 7 million seniors were food insecure in 2022, meaning they didn't have consistent access to enough food for a healthy life. This can lead to serious health problems and a reduced quality of life. That's why we're on a mission to ensure that everyone in every zip code, especially our most vulnerable populations, can access the food they need to lead healthy lives. We partnered with Instacart to bring fresh produce to families across America! Our Good Food at Home program provided over 1,100 families in 4 cities with $60 in Instacart Health Fresh Funds and free Instacart delivery. This program has empowered families to access nutritious food right at their doorsteps when they need it the most. While these initial results inspire us, we know there’s still work to be done. The Foundation for Fresh Produce's new campaign, Hacks for Healthy Back-to-School Habits, aims to foster healthier eating habits in children as they return to school. Through partnerships with nine major retailers, including Hy-Vee, Inc. and Meijer, the campaign provides practical tips and strategies for incorporating more fruits and vegetables into daily routines. Waddle, our Vice President of Programs, and Margaret Read, our Senior Director of Impact & Evaluation, presented the results of our Good Food at Home evaluation alongside our partners Altarum and Instacart. We're thrilled to be able to share the impact of our work as we continue to improve our programs to be more effective at making a lasting impact on families! #SNEB2024

We’re excited to share the results of our recent Good Food at Home program! Running from December 2023 to February 2024 in Englewood, NJ, Denver, CO, Milwaukee, WI, and Washington, DC, we provided over a thousand families with $60 in Fresh Funds for three months to purchase fresh produce on Instacart.
