Lauren, Director of Global Programs, embarked on an insightful journey to Potenza, Italy, exploring the impactful legacy of Nobel Laureate Betty Williams at the City of Peace 🕊️. Founded in 2009 by Betty and now led by fellow Laureate Jody Williams, the foundation is a beacon of hope, fostering refugee integration in Italy's Basilicata region ❤️. During her visit, Lauren spent time with the Executive Director, Valerio Giambersio, and met with Iraqi and Tunisian refugee families, gaining firsthand insights into their inspiring stories 🌍. She also collaborated with partner organizations dedicated to supporting refugees, including facilities for unaccompanied children 👶. A visit to ScamBio Lógico, an organic and fair trade shop innovatively set in a renovated train station and maintained by refugees, highlighted the community’s resilience 🌱. The visit culminated in an event at Moon recycled art space, marking the countdown to International Refugee Day 📅.
