DEP held our annual exhibit last week at Penn State's Ag Progress Days, where we engaged with students and residents about topics ranging from watershed restoration to Small Business Advantage Grants. Special thanks to Adam Ortiz, EPA Region 3 Administrator, for stopping by our booth and giving our “Ways to Save Water” wheel a spin! It was an excellent opportunity to showcase how the Shapiro Administration not only helps protect the environment, but also empowers local farmers and small businesses, which are the backbone of many communities across the Commonwealth. #agprogressdays #papreferred #smallbusiness #grants US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

Today we announced the grant round opening of 2025’s Environmental Education Grants. Nearly $1 million in grants will be available to schools, colleges, nonprofit community and environmental organizations, county conservation districts, and businesses for Environmental Education projects across the Commonwealth. Projects can engage residents on topics such as clean water and climate change and are encouraged to focus on environmental justice areas. Since the program’s inception, more than 2,200 projects have been awarded grants totaling over $14 million. “These projects are especially important to communities that have been disproportionately impacted by pollution,” said DEP Acting Secretary Jessica Shirley. Government works best when we work together. 🤝 DEP Acting Secretary Jessica Shirley joined Governor Shapiro, Ag Secretary Russell Redding, DCNR Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn, and our Maryland department counterparts Secretaries Serena McIlwain, Josh Kurtz, and Kevin Atticus with EPA Administrator Adam Ortiz to celebrate the significant progress across the Chesapeake Bay watershed. DEP’s restoration work along the Susquehanna River watershed helped raise PA’s University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science Chesapeake Bay Report grade to its highest point in more than two decades.
