Our Mission: Pet Partners' mission is to improve human health and well-being through the human-animal bond. About us: Pet Partners is the national leader in demonstrating and promoting the health and wellness benefits of animal-assisted therapy, activities, and education. Since the organization’s inception in 1977, the science proving these benefits has become indisputable. With more than 10,000 registered teams making more than 3 million visits annually, Pet Partners serves as the nation’s most diverse and respected nonprofit registering handlers of multiple species as volunteer teams. Pet Partners teams visit with patients in recovery, people with intellectual disabilities, seniors living with Alzheimer’s, students, veterans with PTSD, people who have experienced crisis events, and those approaching end of life, with the goal of improving human health and well-being through the human-animal bond. Twelve years ago when my then 12 year old son was sick in the hospital and recovering from surgery we hit a wall. He was tired of being poked, he was in pain and he just wanted to go home. Then we met a therapy dog named Bean. The medicine didn’t taste so bad, the pain lessened and staying another day meant maybe meeting another therapy dog. A few years after that, I went through therapy animal training with our dog Chloe, then Piper and now I’m happy to announce Murphy is carrying on the family tradition after passing his Pet Partners therapy dog test today! #petpartners #therapydogs #umnpaws

Meadow is a retired therapy dog, but this sweet little gal has helped so many young adults in the state hospital's psych ward. One young adult, in particular, had been so introverted that the doctors weren't even sure if he could speak. After Meadow visited him a few times, he opened up and spoke. He didn't say much, but it was a start. 👏 Meadow helped him so much that he was eventually released and able to return home. The day the young man was released, he asked to see her again so he could thank her. It was a beautiful moment. 🥰 #PetPartnersTherapyPets #therapyanimalsrock
