Yesterday, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette recognized PIT’s success in recent years, especially the significant air service growth and building a new terminal. The airport is seeing passenger traffic not seen in nearly 20 years. This success would not have been possible without strong leadership from our CEO, Christina Cassotis, our dedicated ACAA team, and support from our wonderful partners and the community along the way. As part of our transformation, our new terminal will provide a better passenger experience for Pittsburgh, including an expanded and streamlined security checkpoint. Our CEO, Christina Cassotis, was the keynote speaker for the recent Women's Energy Network Greater Pittsburgh 10th Anniversary Gala. She spoke about transforming PIT into a strong origin and destination airport and the exciting changes travelers can anticipate when its new terminal opens in 2025. She also detailed some of PIT's innovative projects, including plans to produce sustainable aviation fuel on-site. Before her talk, she was presented with the Catalyst Award, which honors women who drive positive change in the energy industry through exemplary leadership and groundbreaking innovation. WEN felt Christina embodies this award because of her leadership in PIT's strategic initiatives, including being the first US airport completely powered by its microgrid. Congratulations, Christina!

Twenty-five years ago, Allegheny County’s leadership transitioned PIT into an authority. We haven't slowed down in over two decades, experiencing our highest monthly passenger count since 2005 in June, with more than 970,000 passengers traveling through PIT. It’s been a year since we cut the ribbon on La Petite Academy, PIT’s on-site childcare center, and opened its doors to PIT employees. Access to quality childcare is often a barrier to employment, which is one reason PIT is thrilled to offer an on-site childcare center for working parents. We’re proud to help lead the charge in workforce development and make entering the workforce easier for parents.
