The power of #community lies in its ability to uplift, inspire, and create lasting impact—and that's what the #partnership between PMI Tanzania Chapter and CARE Tanzania is set to achieve. In a progressive move toward shaping the future of Tanzania, Kheri R. Mbiro, President and Board Chairman of PMI Tanzania Chapter, and Prudence Masako, Country Director of CARE Tanzania, recently signed a #groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). At the heart of this #MoU is the vision to equip over 135 Community-Based Trainers (CBTs) across Dar es Salaam, Morogoro, Unguja, and Pemba with specialised project management training. These trainers will then #empower more than 24,000 young Tanzanians. As the local proverb says, "Haba na haba hujaza kibaba," this partnership will provide Tanzanian youth with crucial #projectmanagement skills to enhance entrepreneurial capabilities, promote financial independence, and contribute meaningfully to economic development. The #project, funded by the Project Management Institute Educational Foundation (PMIEF), marks a transformative step in empowering Tanzanian youth with the tools to take on leadership roles, manage projects effectively, and positively influence their communities. In an industry traditionally dominated by men, the rise of #womeninconstruction is nothing short of remarkable. The Empowerment and Recognition of Women in Construction Awards stand as a testament to the indomitable spirit, innovation, and excellence that women bring to this field. The awards do more than just honour achievement; they light the way for women who are redefining the future of #construction, championing #sustainabledevelopment, and inspiring the #nextgeneration of leaders. This year, categories like the Innovative Entity of the Year, won by Audacity Worx Concept, highlight how women-led #projects are breaking new ground, introducing fresh perspectives, and pushing the boundaries of what's possible. Project Management Institute’s proud participation as a #goldsponsor of the #ERWIC Awards underscores our deep commitment to supporting women in construction. As part of this commitment, #PMI provided five bursaries to the evening's winners to pursue the PMI Construction Professional (#PMICP) certification, empowering them to further enhance their skills and leadership in the field. We recognise that the journey toward gender equality and empowerment is paved with support and opportunities for professional growth. In an industry as complex and dynamic as construction, #projectmanagement plays a pivotal role in coordinating resources, mitigating risks, and achieving successful outcomes. Notably, in sub-Saharan Africa, where the gender gap in project management is among the lowest globally, women are increasingly stepping into leadership roles, driving innovation and excellence in #projects according to PMI’s State of Women in Project Management, 2023 survey. As we celebrate #WomensMonth, let us take a moment to honour all the evening’s winners who are transforming the construction landscape. These remarkable women are not just building structures; they are building a future where #equality is the cornerstone of progress. Their contributions are vital, and this #recognition was essential.
