Meet the biggest saboteur voice in your head: The Judge. The Judge in your head tells you you’re not good enough. You’re ugly. You’re fat. You’re stupid. You’re a failure. You’re not working hard enough. The Judge also thinks about your friends and your family…he’s stupid. She’s so emotional. They don’t understand me. None of them likes me. The Judge thinks of both people and circumstances. If only I had more time in the day. Life sucks. Work sucks. This city has no good men left. If you don’t quiet your Judge, you will live with unnecessary anxiety, stress, frustration, resentment, and many other bad emotions that stop you from being your best, and doing what you are really up to in life. They are a set of automatic and habitual mind patterns, each with its own voice, beliefs, and assumptions that work against your best interest. The question is not whether you have them, but which ones you have, and how strong they are. They are universal—spanning cultures, genders, and age groups—because they are connected to the functions of the brain that are focused on survival. We each develop Saboteurs early in childhood in order to survive the perceived threats of life, both physical and emotional.
