The rates of maternal mortality and morbidity are disproportionately rising among Black and Indigenous People of Color. Per the CDC data, Black women are three to four times more likely to die due to pregnancy-related complications than white women. Further, these disparities continue into the post-partum period. Premera Blue Cross is committed to closing this gap through its high-risk maternity case management team that includes licensed maternal specialists. Their role is to provide education, care coordination, readmission prevention, and other tailored support services inclusive of addressing social drivers of health. Growing up can be tough, and kids today face behavioral health challenges their parents never imagined. These challenges were made clear in the Alaska's latest Youth Risk Behavior Survey, in which young Alaskans reported dealing with issues like depression and cyberbullying more frequently. They don't have to experience these issues alone, though. Parents and caregivers can take steps to help kids feel more confident coming to them for support. Premera Blue Cross is so excited to the newest partner of USL Spokane, supporting Spokane Zephyr FC and Spokane Velocity FC! We'll count on both clubs to bring the action on the field while we celebrate some of Washington's amazing educators in the stands! Every Zephyr and Velocity home game will see Premera and USL Spokane honor a Spokane-area educator, who will get free tickets and an in-game recognition as Teacher of the Match.
