Our Akron architecture team is dedicated to enhancing the community through the revitalization of key Akron Community Centers, including Patterson Park, Ed Davis, and Reservoir Park. These projects are designed to foster community connection by offering expanded spaces and diverse programming—from concerts and picnics to athletic events—bringing residents together like never before. At Patterson Park, a new 12,400 square foot building will provide increased recreational opportunities and improved ADA accessibility, ensuring that more community members can enjoy the park’s offerings. The Ed Davis project integrates seamlessly with the surrounding park, aiming to strengthen community bonds by creating a welcoming and central gathering space in the heart of Akron. Reservoir Park's renovation of its historic 1933 building will add 4,800 square feet of space for additional programming. Both Akron Mayor Malik and Council Representative Sharon Connor have highlighted the facility's significance to the community, a sentiment beautifully captured in a poem by a local resident (swipe to read)! These enhancements are more than just upgrades; they represent our commitment to building a stronger, more connected Akron. PRIME AE team members Sizan Ava, P.E. and Julia Duhart had the incredible opportunity to visit the new Route 8 Bridge Replacement in Akron! Thank you to Ruhlin Company & Great Lakes Joint Venture Team for an insightful learning session and tour. The original SR8 bridge, built in 1953, is finally being replaced due to structural and safety issues. We observed the fascinating process of 'launching' 10-foot tall beams over the valley with rollers and hydraulics. Interesting fact: if the beams aren’t moved from pier to pier in one shift, they have to retract and start over—no cantilevering allowed! This was a fantastic opportunity to observe a significant local project and make valuable connections.
