Non-users: 💥May not be aware of your brand and product. 💥Can share a wealth of information without any brand or company biases. Both can be helpful for different types of research. ✨ Where should Research Operations report to for maximum impact? ✨ When Zapier’s Head of UX Research, Roy Opata Olende, joined us for an AMA on positioning User Research, we explored the ideal home for Research Operations within an organization. 🏠 We posed two key questions to our live attendees: 1️⃣ Where do you currently report into? 2️⃣ Where would you like to report into? Roy emphasized that the “best vertical for Research Ops depends on the specific goals and iteration of Research Operations within your particular context.” To find the right fit, Roy suggests conducting an internal assessment. Here are 3 questions Roy recommends asking to determine the best reporting structure for ReOps: 🔎 What does operations look like across other functions in your organization? 🔎 How mature is your research practice? 🔎 Are you a team of one, or do you have a larger ReOps team? Roy also warned: "It's risky when Research Ops is very detached and living in a different 'home' than, say, the 'research neighborhood.'
