This will make your roof maintenance plans even more valuable. An entire scan of this roof (36,000sf) only takes an hour. One of the biggest challenges we face as contractors is rain costing us time and money. If you’ve ever traveled even a couple hours to do a thermal scan and a pop up shower (or wind, or clouds, or any other minor anomaly) made it impossible… you’ll love our method of moisture detection. Part of the reason I can confidently schedule trainings is bc I know it has to be pouring to disrupt our plans. Can you imagine how disappointed I would have been if a little rain had stopped a training in South Dakota yesterday? Instead… myself, Clevercoat and Tramex Meters had a lovely Scottish day on a beautiful EPDM roof.

Learn the reason why entrapped moisture can lead to the premature failure of TPO and other single-ply roof membranes. The core of this article is founded on Army Corp of Engineer research (referenced in the article). I'll be the first one to state that I have a vested interest in drying out roof insulation. That's what we do at ReDry LLC. Having said that, this isn't a promotion piece. I think I only mention ReDry one time... in the photo credit. 😊 Simplifying complex concepts and processes allows them to be implemented by those who are brilliant in real world application. I get asked all the time “what do you do if it’s EPDM? I didn’t think you could use a moisture scanner on that.” This is a common misconception. Here’s proof that moisture detection equipment can read moisture through EPDM. We took saturated EPS Insulation (at various levels of moisture), sealed them and tested the Tramex Meters MEX5’s readings through various different membranes.
