This is a long overdue post about our recent win at Ocean Exchange. REMORA Chief Scientist Brooke Flammang presented her idea and the science on Monday before taking off to Halifax, NS for a Right Whale conference. I, Matthew Newberry stayed in Florida for the lightning round and awards ceremony, and was shocked to come away with the Neptune Award win against so many great competitors. Dain Dunston, Millicent Pitts, Alex Akkaoui, MBA and everyone else at OE put on an incredible conference and I’m grateful for all of the kindness that was shown to us by both the organization and the other competitors. We’re planning our next steps, and are very excited to have the resources to focus our effort on making our dream a reality. This gives me a lot of faith in humanity for the future of our oceans, and it was humbling to be in the company of so many great minds. Thank you to everyone who has already reached out to help us move forward. Brooke has been working on this for over a decade, and we finally have a foothold. This will be her legacy.
