This is crucial as we strive to meet global emissions targets and work towards a greener future 3.   Social Responsibility: Adopting energy-efficient practices demonstrates a commitment to sustainability, influencing stakeholders and inspiring others in our networks to follow suit. It’s about leading by example and making a positive impact on the community and the environment 4.   Regulatory Compliance: Increasingly, local/State/Federal governments are tightening regulations around energy use and sustainability. Staying ahead in energy efficiency ensures compliance and avoids potential penalties 5.   Brand Image: Companies recognized for their green initiatives are viewed more favorably by consumers, partners, and investors. Thank you to Sidley for having me on the “State of the Infrastructure Market” panel. A number of thoughtful comments on opportunities and risks were shared across the panel and audience. A fantastic forum to be discussing infrastructure investing for the benefit of all stakeholders.

Mark Janay, Chris Turnbull, Alan Dodd and Jared Alder had a very engaging discussion today on the Prospect Lake Clean Water Center for the City of Fort Lauderdale. Two key facts stuck out to me: 1. They are piloting various treatment processes to accommodate the new PFAS drinking standards. Because the current design includes both nano filtration and ion exchange technologies, they will be in good shape to explore a solution for the city. 2. Prospect Lake stands out for its delivery model, which is based on a P3, but the approach is unique even within the realm of traditional P3s. Typically, in a P3 arrangement, both debt and equity are provided by the company overseeing the project. However, in the case of Prospect Lake, the city supplied the debt, while the contracting entity contributed the equity. This innovative structure resulted in a lower total installed cost for the customer, a crucial consideration for ratepayers in a public water system. I recently shared with a legislator why I chose a career in infrastructure. It's not just my passion, but a necessity for our future prosperity and resilience. Our infrastructure forms the backbone of our economy and quality of life. As we look ahead, it's imperative that we prioritize investments in modernizing and expanding our infrastructure. Upgrading infrastructure creates jobs, stimulates economic growth, and attracts investment. It lays the groundwork for innovation and competitiveness in the global marketplace. Maintaining safe and reliable infrastructure is essential for public safety. Whether it's repairing aging bridges or improving transit systems, investing in infrastructure enhances our ability to respond to emergencies and disasters. Investing in sustainable infrastructure reduces our environmental footprint, mitigates climate change impacts, and fosters long-term environmental stewardship. Building inclusive infrastructure ensures equitable access to essential services like transportation, broadband, and clean water, bridging the gap between urban and rural communities and promoting social cohesion.
