Rocking the Boat BRONX is hiring a Director of Boatbuilding to lead all wooden boatbuilding-related programming and infrastructure and manage all boatbuilding staff. It's a fantastic job for a skilled wooden boatbuilder, shipwright, or boatyard manager with an interest in community education. The job offers $85K - $100K in salary plus a 6% 401(k) match, comprehensive health, dental, vision benefits and generous vacation and comp time. Spring Launch Fest 2024 is this Saturday, June 1, 2-6pm at Hunts Point Riverside Park (next to Rocking the Boat). At this week's gala, we raised close to $330,000—an all-time high for Rocking the Boathouse—to expand Rocking the Boat's Sailing program and keep our Boatbuilding, Environmental Science, and social work services going strong. We were thrilled to bring Rocking the Boathouse back to Central Park and create the opportunity for guests to race a model sailboat, take a rowboat ride, and enjoy the scenery of such an iconic New York City venue. And it was the perfect opportunity to recognize our distinguished alumna, Cathy Perez, and welcome our special guest, Cole Brauer, into the Rocking the Boat family!

Rocking the Boathouse is just a few days away on May 7 and we couldn’t be more excited! Not only do we anticipate a beautiful night of sailboat races and rowboat rides, but we also get to celebrate the accomplishments of two amazing women. - Catharine Perez is this year’s Pete and Toshi Seeger Alumni Award recipient. Currently pursuing her MSEd in Special Education Teaching at Lehman College, Cathy is a graduate of the New York City Teaching Fellows and a middle school science teacher in the Bronx. She sees herself not just as a teacher but as a mentor to her students, applying many of the life lessons she learned as a participant in Rocking the Boat’s Environmental Program. - Cole Brauer knows a thing or two about being a mentor. As the first American woman to race non-stop, around the world, by herself, she has shown that women can compete at the highest levels.
