We had a great time at the recent Waynesboro Recovery Month Event. This event was family-friendly, with a focus on children's activities, recovery education and support. There were several community partners present such as Halfway Housing, Patient Transportation, and a huge group of staff from the host, Pyramid. The community enjoyed the DJ who played a variety of music, and the children had a bounce house, golfing game, raffle prizes, and cotton candy to enjoy. Drew, the host this event, ended with a very heartfelt speech about his ongoing recovery. Others shared a story about the loss to overdose and experience of strength and hope. Their stories were vulnerable and sincere with passion, and commitment to help those still in the struggle of sobriety. Roxbury offered card games, tattoos, stickers, candy, pencils, and erasers, to the children, and we also gave printed collateral for the adults for education on our services. #NationalRecoveryMonth

York County kicked off recovery month with the reading of a proclamation by York County commissioners on September 6. Organized by York Partnership for Recovery, the night hosted live music, games, photo both, dynamic speakers and most importantly, hope that recovery does happen! Roxbury Hospital is proud to be a part of such a wonderful organization. The weather was nearly perfect for such a beautiful event. #NationalRecoveryMonth

York Partnership for Recovery and York Revolution hosted the annual Recovery Baseball game yesterday! Hundreds of people involved in the recovery community attended WellSpan Park to watch York Revolution take on the Lancaster Barnstormers. The pregame activities included a recovery-based motorcycle parade, a massive recovery circle and serenity prayer. The first pitch was tossed out by a York community member with over 45 years of sobriety. Resource tables lined the ballpark and a picnic was provided for all those who attended the recovery celebrations. Roxbury is honored to be a part of such a great event!

The Waynesboro Police Department hosted their 14th annual National Night Out event on August 13 at Memorial Park in Waynesboro. This is always a well-attended event and Roxbury is happy to continue to support this great community event. Our new Community Relations Representative, Johanna Mitchell, provided information about our services and some back-to-school items for the kids. Thank you to the Waynesboro Police Department for all the hard work placed into this event.

Our staff was pleased to support the Chambersburg Police Department as they hosted National Night Out on August 6 at Memorial Park in Chambersburg. While other National Night Out events were postponed or canceled due to weather, this event continued. Hot dogs, ice cream, a K9 unit demonstration, fire trucks and many local resources were on-hand for community members. There was also a visit from a famous cow you may recognize. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible!

What does a bounce house, corn hole, water balloons, goats, candy, hot dogs, chicken BBQ and the sound of 80s music all have in common? The Roxbury employee family picnic that’s what! We value our employees and consider them part of our family. Our leadership team served yummy food as the kids jumped in the bounce house and got into a fun water balloon toss. A local petting zoo also provided a small heard of goats for everyone to enjoy. The day was capped off with a candy scramble where everyone went home with bags full of sweets. Thank you to all who helped out and all who attended! If you are interested in joining our family, please apply on our website, roxburyhospital.com.
