I say this to my sons all the time: When there’s a fire, you don’t run away from it. You run at it. Dealing with setbacks — in business and in life — is when you prove your character. When the fire starts, which way are you going? That’s how I built up my business. When Covid decimated my industry, I didn’t run away with my tail between my legs. I got to work. An industry that often uses its technology to eliminate the important personal connections that I believe must be critical in a business relationship. That’s why I give my personal cell phone number out to my clients. That’s why I still make cold calls. That’s why I fly my employees out to wherever our clients are so they can meet face-to-face.
