On this day 80 years ago America landed 73,000 troops on the beaches at Normandy. Over 4,000 would lay dead by the end of June 6th. Through grit, tenacity, and sheer fighting spirit, the Allies would break the defence and storm into France. The German Army would fail Hitler's order to "throw the Allies back into the sea". Few veterans who fought through that savage battle are still alive to tell their stories. They need to be heard. For those who sacrificed, and those who lived, we owe you our freedom. Our mission is to deliver unbelievably high quality helical foundations that are on-time and on-budget. That approach has helped us become a leader in the helical pier foundation industry, serving clients in the renewable and oil & gas industries on large-scale projects. Now, we need an outstanding Field Superintended to support the smooth and efficient operation of our jobsites. If you enjoy things like... ✔️ Planning, coordinating, and executing job site operations ✔️ Keeping budgets, schedules, and quality, on-track ✔️ Communicating with stakeholders to respectfully resolve conflicts and ensure alignment ✔️ Maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations ✔️ Accurately recording project activities such as daily logs, progress reports, and change orders And if you have qualifications like... ✔️ Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field. Or, 5+ years experience in a related field. The federal government announced the "Federal-State Modern Grid Deployment Initiative" on Tuesday. Here's where it could go wrong... Aimed at making the grid more efficient while increasing capacity, the initiative has been joined by 21 states. Their focus is to use "high performance conductors" and "grid enhancing technologies" to improve "...line capacity, performance, and resilience." (Quotes taken from White House document linked in comments). We agree that new tech is an important part of upgrading the grid. But, whenever these kinds of initiatives or investments are announced, there's a problem we see... 👉 How will we SUPPORT all this infrastructure? High performance conductors or grid enhancing technologies are only one piece of the puzzle. We also need to BUILD substations, transmission lines, battery energy storage, clean energy generation, and on it goes. If we want a modern grid to serve the next generation, it HAS to rest on better foundations. Helical piers are a faster, easier, more environmentally-sensitive solution for energy construction. The invention of "screw piles" (helical piers) transformed construction. But what do you REALLY know about their remarkable creator? Take a break and enjoy this 30-second history 👇 Alexander Mitchell, inventor of helical piers... ➡ Born in Ireland on April 13, 1780 ➡ Lost his Father at 10 years old, went blind by age 22 ➡ Disliked by his mother-in-law (until the first grandchild) ➡ Borrowed £100 to start a brick-making business (a success) ➡ Devised the idea for "screw piles" (helical piers) in the early 1830's ➡ Installed a test pier at night, in secret, from a rowboat, with his son (also a success) ➡ Made friends with an engineer, James Walker, who saw potential ➡ Installed piers for Maplin Sands Lighthouse in 1838, proving his solution ➡ Personally worked on countless foundation projects until his death in 1868 ➡ Changed construction forever (with no formal engineering education) While we don't know if Alexander Mitchell knew helical piers would change the world, we think he'd be mighty proud to see what they've achieved over the past 191 years.
