We were thrilled to participate in the recent Marvin “Joe” Curry Veterans Powwow. As proud sponsors of this incredible event, our Seneca Holdings team had a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture and community of the Seneca Nation and other Indigenous peoples. Our presence at powwow was more than just attendance; it was a meaningful experience that reaffirms our mission of serving and supporting the Seneca Nation. On June 15th, the Seneca Nation honors the late Calvin "Kelly" John, born on this day in 1920, as part of the Seneca Nation's President's Day observances. John, who passed away on October 8, 2004, served four terms as President (1946, 1950, 1966, and 1990) and held positions as Treasurer and Councilor. His leadership was instrumental during the negotiation of the 99-year Salamanca Lease Agreement in the early 90s. We extend our gratitude to the current leader, Rickey L. Armstrong Sr, and all of the past presidents for their dedicated service.

The Seneca Nation held a celebratory PRIDE flag raising on June 3rd to support LBGTAIQ2S+ community members, including those who identify as Two-Spirit. Two-Spirit refers to a person who embodies both masculine and feminine spirits. This term, often embraced by some Indigenous communities, covers various aspects of same-sex attraction, gender identity, and gender variance. It originated in 1990 at the Third Annual Inter-Tribal Native American/First Nations Gay and Lesbian American Conference in Winnipeg, Canada, reflecting unique Indigenous cultural perspectives. This #PRIDEMonth and throughout the year, we honor the contributions of our LGBTQIA2S+ team members and community. Our dedication to recognizing these contributions and our ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion remain cornerstones of the culture at Seneca Holdings.

May 5th, 2024, is Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) Awareness Day Today, we stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities to highlight MMIWG Awareness Day, a critical movement raising awareness of the disproportionate violence faced by Indigenous women and girls across North America.
