Dear ABC News: New government data shows that nearly 14 million kids now face hunger. To see childhood hunger grow again after last year’s staggering increase shows we are still not doing enough to ensure children in America are well nourished and families have the resources to meet their most basic needs. As a country, we know what works. Just five years ago, we were seeing historic drops in food insecurity. During the pandemic, smart investments by our government kept kids and families fed. Now that those investments have been rolled back, that progress is being erased, and we’re seeing the dire need to address the root causes of hunger. Heading into an election, Americans agree that leaders at all levels of government should be prioritizing this issue. This year, our No Kid Hungry campaign conducted statewide polls in New York, Florida, Texas and Virginia - and in every state, more than 90% of respondents agreed fighting child hunger should be a bipartisan issue. And people deserve answers on how their leaders will handle this. In the upcoming presidential debate, ask candidates how are they are going to get us back on that track to ending child hunger. What action will they take to reverse this crisis? #NoKidHungry #Debates2024
