On June 19, 1865–nearly two years after President Abraham Lincoln emancipated enslaved Africans in America—Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, TX with news of their freedom. This day became known as Juneteenth! On this Freedom Day, which is now a federally recognized holiday, we honor those who endured and overcame unspeakable challenges to realize the hard-fought rights we have today. Sixth & Bryant is proud to support the Arise And Shine Foundation Inc. in the launch of the E.S.T.E.A.M. Project! The HBCU Coding Bootcamp recently covened currently enrolled women and recent grads for a weekend of empowerment, STEM training and wellness in Jackson, MS. Hosted by Jackson State University with support from our generous partners, this transformational weekend centered entrepreneurship, science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (E.S.T.E.A.M.). Led by the visionary Malinda Williams - our team has worked to help bring the project to life and elevate the story.
