Suzette Kent, a member of the SkillStorm Advisory Board, recently co-authored an article for RealClearEducation with Ken Eisner, ETS Managing Director, Higher Education to Workforce. The article highlights the importance of skill development programs like #VETTEC for transitioning service members adjusting to civilian life. In their piece, Suzette and Ken note, “Several studies have shown that veterans are nearly 40% more likely than non-veterans to face underemployment—working in roles that don’t fully utilize their skills or qualifications.” The VET TEC program has already demonstrated its effectiveness over the past five years, with nearly half of its graduates securing meaningful employment with salaries of at least $65,000 annually. We are thrilled to announce that we have been selected by the U.S. Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) to participate in the Transition Assistance Program Employment Navigator and Partnership Program (ENPP) to help bring tech training and hiring to veterans and military spouses. This partnership will support service members and military spouses to prepare for a successful career in information technology, cybersecurity and software development. These initiatives are available to service members at no cost through Techforce by Design, SkillBridge, VET TEC, and COOL, while spouses can receive scholarship support via MyCAA.
