For the fourth consecutive year, Snell & Wilmer participated in the Hood to Coast relay. The event is the largest running/walking relay race in the world and stretches over 196 miles in total, and 128 miles for Portland to Coast. Members of the team included attorneys from three of the firm’s offices on the West Coast as well as members of the Portland Trail Sisters running group. Last week, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit vacated a series of regulations passed by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA). The challenge was brought by Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA), a trade organization representing the majority of interstate natural gas transmission pipeline companies in the U.S. and Canada. INGAA’s claims challenged five regulations passed as part of a larger list of new and revised standards concerning the safety of natural gas pipelines. On Tuesday, August 20, 2024, Judge Ada Brown of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas issued an order finding the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) rule banning non-compete agreements to be unlawful.
