Our co-founder and President, Daryl Risinger, spoke at #NACDSTSE and emphasized the economic benefits to health plans of partnering with pharmacies, highlighting the opportunity to improve star ratings and boost revenue. “If you want to move the needle, you need to be in retail because retail is where consumers are spending most of their time.” While seniors may see their physician 5 times per year, they shop for groceries an estimated 80 times per year and visit their pharmacist 30 times per year- retail is the place that integrates nutrition and health care.

Over 40% of births are covered by #Medicaid. There are > 50.5 million low-income (enrolled in or eligible for Medicaid or supplemental nutrition services for low-income individuals) women of reproductive age & children. Poor systems-level infrastructure to support low-income mothers perpetuates a cycle of income instability, food insecurity, and adverse health outcomes. - 1 in 8 women of reproductive age are living under the federal poverty level. - Low-income households are more likely to experience food insecurity and poor nutrition and are most often covered by Medicaid or are uninsured. - Pregnant women on Medicaid have higher rates of obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes than those that are privately insured, leading to costly health outcomes such as preterm birth, pre-eclampsia, and NICU admissions. We're proud to be working to improve Maternal Health Outcomes for expectant parents on Medicaid, closing care gaps, improving access to health care, and providing Food as Medicine to fight food insecurity.
