At Spark, we’re committed to enhancing sustainability in our labs. To reduce waste, including biohazardous waste, we have implemented the TerraCycle Safety Equipment & Protective Gear Zero Waste Box™ recycling program. Recycling boxes are available in all our labs for employees and visitors. Once filled with safety glasses, TerraCycle transforms them into plastic pellets for creation of new products. So far, Spark has successfully recycled 30 boxes of safety glasses which will become more than two thousand pounds of plastic pellets! #PlasticFreeJuly#Sustainability

Construction of our Gene Therapy Innovation Center is advancing smoothly! This week, Spark's Corporate Facilities Workplace team toured the site to see recent developments, including the installation of the glass exterior. At this year’s ASRS – American Society of Retina Specialists Annual Scientific Meeting, we’re excited to present results for our #GeneTherapy treatment for an inherited retinal disease (IRD).   IRDs are a group of diseases that can cause severe vision loss or even blindness. Did you know? Our new Gene Therapy Innovation Center will house over 330 miles of cables – that’s roughly the same length as the distance between #Philadelphia and Pittsburgh! This includes electrical, instrument, and IT cables, essential for our research and gene therapy manufacturing processes.
