At Spark, we’re committed to enhancing sustainability in our labs. To reduce waste, including biohazardous waste, we have implemented the TerraCycle Safety Equipment & Protective Gear Zero Waste Box™ recycling program. Recycling boxes are available in all our labs for employees and visitors. Once filled with safety glasses, TerraCycle transforms them into plastic pellets for creation of new products. So far, Spark has successfully recycled 30 boxes of safety glasses which will become more than two thousand pounds of plastic pellets! #PlasticFreeJuly#Sustainability

Construction of our Gene Therapy Innovation Center is advancing smoothly! This week, Spark's Corporate Facilities Workplace team toured the site to see recent developments, including the installation of the glass exterior. It's thrilling to witness this project come to life, and we look forward to the building becoming a global hub for gene therapy manufacturing. #GeneTherapy #LifeSciences #Philadelphia

At this year’s ASRS – American Society of Retina Specialists Annual Scientific Meeting, we’re excited to present results for our #GeneTherapy treatment for an inherited retinal disease (IRD). IRDs are a group of diseases that can cause severe vision loss or even blindness. IRDs are caused by one or more genes that are not working as it should. Visit the Hereditary Retinal Disease & Genetics Symposium 1 on Wednesday, July 17, at 3:10pm CEST to hear about our data.

Philadelphia isn’t just where our country was born; it’s also where many American firsts took place. Step back in time and discover the advancements in science and education that started right here in the City of Brotherly Love. Spark is honored to be part of this city’s history, contributing its own milestone: the first FDA-approved gene therapy for a genetic disease in the U.S. Let’s continue making history together! #IndependenceDay #Philadelphia

Did you know that nearly 50 million people in the U.S. live with disabilities, making up the nation's largest minority? (U.S. Department of Labor) During Disability Pride Month in July, we recognize the achievements and experiences of the differently abled community. At Spark, our differently abled Employee Resource Group, SHINE, is a supportive space where individuals come together to uplift and amplify each other's voices, while celebrating what makes them unique. Together, we can embrace our differences and foster a more empowering environment for everyone. #DisabilityPrideMonth #diversity #inclusion

Did you know? Our new Gene Therapy Innovation Center will house over 330 miles of cables – that’s roughly the same length as the distance between #Philadelphia and Pittsburgh! This includes electrical, instrument, and IT cables, essential for our research and gene therapy manufacturing processes. These cables will power our advanced equipment and enable our teams to accelerate healthcare transformation. #LifeSciences #GeneTherapy

June is #PrideMonth, a time dedicated to recognizing the significant contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals around the world. Among those making a difference is Mary Palmer, MBA, PMP, Spark's Sr. Director of Manufacturing Operations, Gene Therapy Innovation Center. As an ally, she chooses to give back by serving on the Board of Directors and Finance Committee William Way Community Center in #Philadelphia, and supporting the capital campaign to renovate their existing, historic community center (https://buildtheway.org/). This Pride Month, let's celebrate diversity, honor contributions, and continue to learn and grow together. https://www.waygay.org/
