For 21 years, Cheryl has been a vital member of our team, and her dedication extends well beyond her job - she has been a passionate blood donor for over 35 years. At the last Sturdy Memorial Hospital Blood Drive, she reached an impressive milestone by donating her 75th pint of blood. Sturdy Health is proud to congratulate Dr. Brian Patel for being named a 2024 Diversity Leader by Modern Healthcare! Dr. Patel championed the development of Sturdy Health's three-year DEI and Health Equity Strategic Plan and serves as a catalyst to integrate a culture of DEI throughout our organization. Some of his many accomplishments include creating a community resource guide to meet patient needs (such as expanded language access and transportation to medical appointments), delivery of medically tailored meals for optimal maternal-fetal health within vulnerable populations, and implementation of the PRAPARE screening tool resulting in over 1,100 referrals surrounding food or housing insecurity and 392 referrals for behavioral health services. Today was a heartwarming day at Sturdy Health as our Foundation team hosted a greeting card workshop as part of their "Philanthropy in Action" initiative. Our employees shared that they loved this workshop in the past, so Sturdy Health Foundation decided to bring it back with the help of the wonderful Sturdy Health Volunteers who shared their expertise and supplies. Sturdy team members dropped in to create beautiful cards for patients in our hospital. These cards will surely bring smiles to faces, sharing some much-needed cheer and joy. Sturdy Health was honored to have U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren visit Sturdy Memorial Hospital yesterday! Senator Warren, along with our incredible local delegation of United States Congressman Jake Auchincloss, State Representative Jim Hawkins and City of Attleboro Mayor Cathleen DeSimone, spent time with the Sturdy Health leadership team hearing and seeing first-hand the impact of the behavioral health crisis on community serving hospitals and their emergency departments.
