New Synapse blog! ✍ 💡 On June 28th, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the longstanding Chevron deference doctrine, impacting federal agency rulemaking. This decision in Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo and Relentless, Inc. v. Dep’t of Commerce could reshape how agencies interpret statutes, affecting areas like tax credits and EPA regulations on greenhouse gases. Chevron deference, in place since 1984, guided courts on agency interpretations of ambiguous statutes. Its removal may lead to more regulatory uncertainty and challenges to federal rulemaking across judicial circuits.
