I don't use templates for writing branching scenarios. I use templates for a lot of instructional design and elearning work, including design documents, storyboards, Storyline layouts and interactions. But I don’t use templates for branching scenarios, especially not for writing the scenarios and mapping out the branching structure. I do create and use templates for development sometimes once I’ve written the scenario, but that’s after I’ve already built out the structure and written all the text. Using templates for writing branching scenarios can limit the structure, reduce alignment with content, and waste development time. Instead of using templates, save time and effort by using a tool designed for nonlinear content like Twine. Read more on my blog: https://lnkd.in/grjGem7c

Wondering if there's an AI tool for a specific task? Looking for alternatives to popular tools? While the big names in AI like ChatGPT and Midjourney get most of the attention, there are hundreds of other AI tools out there. The quality varies, of course, but sometimes a smaller, purpose-built tool is the best way to get something done. There's An AI For That is a searchable directory of AI tools, tagged by function and whether it's free or paid. It may even be valuable to just skim through the listings to see what's available. Learning Experience Design Consultant Combining Storytelling and Technology to Create Engaging Scenario-Based Learning
For over 15 years, I've used a social bookmarking tool called Diigo to collect useful and interesting links. In the early days of my blog, I actually shared links almost daily, rather than about once a month like now. My job at the time involved a lot of online research and curating resources, so I needed a tool that could help tag and categorize my bookmarks. I used delicious for bookmarking too--remember that tool? While Diigo still mostly works, the tool isn't being actively maintained. Therefore, I've been looking at alternatives. I needed a tool that could help me organize bookmarks with tags and collections, as well as import my existing bookmarks from Diigo. I also wanted a tool with the ability to highlight text on webpages and save quotes, since I use that feature regularly for blog posts. I also wanted an app so I can save bookmarks easily on my phone or tablet, not just on my computer. While tags and categories are pretty common, highlighting isn't as common of a feature. I've migrated to Raindrop.io as my replacement bookmarking tool. I reviewed and tested a few other options, but this one seemed to be the best fit for me. If you wish you had a way to find all those cool resources you vague remember reading a few months ago, I recommend using a bookmark manager. If you're already using Notion or a similar tool, it'll be easiest to integrate it into what you already have. But, if you're starting from scratch, Raindrop is a solid option, even on the free version. https://raindrop.io/

Using Midjourney, you can now create consistent character images in different poses and expressions for scenario-based learning or other projects! 🎨 Key Points: ✨ Midjourney's character reference feature allows you to generate multiple images of the same character with relative consistency in facial features, hair, and outfits. 💡 Use the --cref parameter in your prompts, followed by the URL of the initial character image you want to reference. 🔑 Intentionally prompt for diversity in characters by specifying details like race, age, and clothing. 👍 While not perfect, the results are a significant improvement over previous AI image generation tools. ⏳ This technology is still new and evolving, so expect even better results in the future as the models improve.
