Information in yellow from the National Visa Center is causing confusion. Have you received this email from NVC telling you that “you must reassign your case” as it can not be processed in Afghanistan? Please know this information is misleading and can potentially exclude you from CARE assistance. 1. Only reassign your case to a new post if you intend to be processed at that post and you can physically travel to that post for an interview. 2. Leave your case with a KBL number so that CARE knows you are still in Afghanistan. 3. If CARE moves you to a new country then CARE will assist in forwarding your case to the new post. You do not need to take any action if CARE moves you. 4. If CARE moves you to Doha please allow CARE some time to move your case from KBL to Doha. 5. If you are in Afghanistan but have moved your case to Islamabad on your own, have a scheduled interview in Islamabad, and have a Pakistan visa or trying to obtain Pakistan visas then please let CARE know this information immediately. 6. You do NOT need to reassign your case in order for CARE to relocate and help with processing your case.

We will #NeverForget 9/11. Today, we honor and remember the victims, mourn their loss, and reflect on the heroes who rose in the face of tragedy. Each of us carries a piece of the resilience, endurance, and revival that emerged from that day. In the heart of darkness and the depths of sorrow, let us each be a light guided by courage and strength to rise anew and conquer the storm. We share with you the 2024 Digital Learning Experience from the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. https://lnkd.in/eaZcf3SY

It is an honor to be among amazing selfless individuals like Douglas Chin who like so many of our volunteers and others have sacrificed and continue to sacrifice to help those left behind in Afghanistan. Thank you for speaking up when so many have moved on from this crisis. And, like always… we thank everyone who continues to remain committed to our Allies left behind. Our work continues.

Afghan Health Partners | UN Advisor | Afghan Evacuation, Resettlement & Healthcare | Director, Religious Identity SIGs @Harvard | Meet me at the intersection of Healthcare & Human Rights

One year ago today the last U.S. military transport plane departed Afghanistan. As it rose above the Kabul skyline, millions of hopes were dashed: While it was a monumental effort and accomplishment evacuating over 140,000 vulnerable Afghans, hundreds of thousands of our friends and allies—including former interpreters, Afghan military, government officials, journalists, and even American citizens and permanent residents —were left behind. Thankfully, where the U.S. government failed, hundreds of volunteers stepped up, including civilians and active duty military women & men—to make good on our commitments as Americans and as human beings. It has been among the greatest honors of my lifetime standing with brave military and civilian volunteers—particularly veterans—who for the past three years have made countless personal, professional, and financial sacrifices to make good on commitments that our government would not. These volunteers are among the finest human beings I have encountered. They inspire me to be a better human being. My meaning and purpose have been elevated because of them. Since August 2021, I have helped to evacuate/resettle over 150 vulnerable Afghans. This is a drop in the ocean compared to the work of my colleagues and to the overall need. Yet, as Rumi reminds us, in every drop there is an entire ocean: In every Afghan brought to safety, there is a compelling personal story full of hopes and dreams, tragedies and turnarounds. There are hundreds of years of history and culture—and something of the very soul of Afghanistan driven to exile. And in every passenger there is the fortitude, effort and faith of the entire evacuation community. Every win is the result of a team effort and a win for the entire evacuation community, for America, and for Freedom. #HKIA #AfghanEvac #DigitalDunkirk Afghan Prosecutors Association Task Force Argo Afghan Evacuation Volunteer Advocate Team Flanders Fields

Knauss, 23, of Corryton, Tennessee. To all the men and women who were courageously there at HKIA in Kabul, Afghanistan... we thank you for your service in conducting the withdrawal operation. You have saved tens of thousands of lives. We are compassionate to your August 2021 service. The wounds you may have and bravely still carry are a burden we wish you never knew. Thank you for your service doesn't begin to show our appreciation but know that we will always remember your sacrifice. Some of Tyler Vargas-Andrews, Sgt (Ret.) words during his open testimony with the House Foreign Affairs Committee on March 8, 2023 remind us all of what we must not forget: "About 1730 SSgt. Darin Hoover, (friend and mentor) came to get me from the tower to go help find an Afghan interpreter in the crowd in the canal. We found the interpreter and his brother, both with American passports. They told us of five family members still in the canal. I stayed there waiting for the family members standing against the 2 foot canal wall. 10 minutes past. Then a flash and massive wave of pressure. I’m thrown 12 feet on the ground, but instantly knew what had happened. I open my eyes to Marines dead or unconscious around me. A crowd of hundreds immediately vanished in front of me and my body was catastrophically wounded with 100-150 ball bearings now in it. Almost immediately we started taking fire from the neighborhood and I saw how injured I was with my right arm completely shredded and unusable. I saw my whole lower abdomen soaked in blood. I crawled backwards 7 feet because I thought I was still in harm's way. My body was overwhelmed from the trauma of the blast. My abdomen had been ripped open. Every inch of my exposed body except for my face took ball bearings and shrapnel. I tried to get up, but could not. Laying there for a few minutes, I started to lose consciousness when I heard Chas, my team leader, screaming my name as he ran to me. His voice, calling to me, kept me awake." (full testimony in comments) We will always remember the Kabul 13 and those who served alongside them. Please let us honor and thank you.

State Department has updated the SIV home page recently. If you haven’t visited it in a while then please take a look. Always remember to keep your immigration case KBL if you are in need of relocation by CARE. NVC gives very poor communication about transferring cases. One should only transfer a case if the applicant is traveling on their own to that country. If you need CARE’s assistance for relocation then keep the case KBL. https://lnkd.in/g8qc8VVV

As of March 2024, there are only 19,045 visas remaining for the Afghan Special Immigrant Visa. This program sunsets on Dec 31, 2025. The action by Congress to increase the number of SIVs by 12,000 and extend the program until 2025 this year was a big success but we are not done advocating for those left behind in Afghanistan. Too many of our Afghan brothers and sisters continue to need your help. Please continue to support this mission by speaking with your Members of Congress about the crisis our Afghan allies face for having supported America for 20 years. We Must Continue To Increase The Number Of Afghan Special Immigrant Visas Visa Bulletin Source: https://lnkd.in/gC5JCSB6 A special thank you to the following Members of Congress: -Speaker of the House, Hon.
