Earlier this week, our Border Affairs staff coordinated a meeting of the Binational Salinity Study for the Lower Rio Grande/Rio Bravo in Mercedes, Texas. The study collected data on the salt levels in the Lower Rio Grande and possible causes of increased salt levels in certain areas. The U.S. and Mexico sections of the International Boundary and Water Commission serve as co-chairs of the Binational Technical Group composed of three agencies from each country.
