Tegra Medical is an end-to-end contract manufacturing solutions provider, known as the company “where medical devices come to life.” Our customers look to us to manufacture everything from complex components to finished devices – from the sharp “business end” to the molded plastic handle – including assembly, sterilization and packaging. Our headquarters is in Franklin, Massachusetts and we have manufacturing locations in Massachusetts, Mississippi, Costa Rica, Europe, and Asia. We are ISO 13485 and FDA registered. The applications for micro injection molding in the medical device industry are wide-ranging and growing. Advancements in minimally invasive procedures, implantable devices, drug delivery systems and diagnostic tools are driving demand for these highly precise, miniature devices. A micro injection-molded part may be as small as only a few microns in size. Here are a few examples of medical devices and components produced using micro injection molding: 🔴 Micro stents: Miniature stents used in cardiovascular and other vascular procedures to open narrow or blocked vessels. 🔴 Hearing aids: Components such as housings and connectors that need to be small, lightweight, and durable. 🔴 Pacemaker parts: Micro-sized components, including connectors and housings, that ensure the reliable operation of the device. 🔴 Lenses for endoscopes: Tiny optical components used in minimally invasive imaging procedures. 🔴 Microsurgical tools: Scalpels, forceps, and other instruments with micro-scale precision, used in delicate procedures. 🔴 Catheter components: Parts such as tips, hubs and connectors that must be extremely precise to navigate through the body’s vasculature. 🔴 Insulin pump components: Micro injection-molded parts that ensure the precise delivery of insulin in diabetes management. 🔴 Inhaler components: Small, precise parts that regulate the flow of medication in inhalation devices.     Last week, 3Daughters had the pleasure of seeing how our frameless, magnetic, nonhormonal IUD and patented integrated insertion/retrieval system are coming to life at Tegra Medical, our longstanding partner who are experts in laser welding (a key process of manufacturing our IUD).   Our CEO & Co-Founder Mary Beth Cicero, Senior Director of Project Development Wendy Blanda, PhD, and Senior Director of Project Management Mike Vergano collaborated on-site with Tegra team, making decisions about materials for our upcoming clinical trials, discussing Tegra’s ISO 13485 quality system, and giving feedback about the look and feel of the assembled units.   Of course, we’d like to give some shoutouts:   💡 Mark Mello, Program Manager, for managing the project and introducing us to the talented team behind manufacturing, testing, and quality control. 💡 Mike Treleaven, Senior VP of Engineering, who been instrumental in our long-term partnership with Tegra and investing in 3Daughters’ success. 💡 Benjamin Stölzel, General Manager of the Franklin facility, for sharing his innovative plans for automating welding and expediting copper shaping.  💡 Florian Beck, General Manager of the Dartmouth facility, for showcasing the first assembled version of our insertion/retrieval system.    Looking forward to our continued partnership with Tegra Medical and the exciting, innovative developments on the horizon!   #womenshealth #Tegra #IUD #contraception
