Last Friday, August 16th, concluded my internship in the Small Business Advisory Service Line at The Bonadio Group. I am thoroughly grateful for this incredibly rewarding, knowledge-fulfilling, and enjoyable experience that brought me to so many amazing people! Throughout the course of my internship, I performed several compelling assignments, such as preparing Individual (1040), C-Corporation (1120), S-Corporation (1120S), and Partnership (1065) tax returns, performing tick-and-tie work (reconciliations), scanning in/organizing source documents provided by clients for tax return preparation, recording financial transactions through bookkeeping processes, adjusting client provided trial balances for tax return preparation, and so much more. I have gained extensive knowledge over the past three months and am extremely excited to apply what I have learned to my fall courses at St. Bonaventure University and beyond! As a Bonadio Intern, I was also provided wonderful opportunities to expand my fieldwork outside the office! I attended several firm events, such as the 7th Annual Kick-it-Forward Kickball Tournament, Syracuse Cornhole Tournament, & More Day, and Annual Purpose Day 2024, which took place at a variety of diverse locations. Although I absolutely loved participating in all gatherings, The Bonadio Group's Annual Purpose Day was by far the most rewarding for a variety of reasons. On this special day, which took place on August 2nd, Bonadio employees stepped outside of the office to volunteer at local nonprofit organizations. Collaborating with my coworkers to set up an event at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, Brew at the Zoo, was an incredible experience that serves as a substantial representation of the generous, compassionate, and selfless environment at The Bonadio Group! I would like to extend a huge thank you to all Bonadio employees for contributing to the tremendously positive experience I have had at the firm! In particular, I would like to thank my Performance Coach, Heather Barbagallo, and Promise Team Leader, Diana Tyler, for their guidance, patience, vital insight, and compassion from day one! Additionally, I would like to thank Michael Chetney and Christopher Janitz, CPA for their consistent mentoring and immediately welcoming me with open arms. Finally, I extend a huge thank you to Yvette Petit for her genuine kindness and words of encouragement! I am truly blessed to have had the opportunity to work for such a reputable, community-serving firm and thrilled to continue my journey into the field of accounting!
