  • We're excited because over 110 "Swing for the Trees" will be planted in Cleveland thanks to the home runs hit by the Cleveland Guardians so far this season. Davey's proud to partner with the Guardians for the "Swing for the Trees" program, where one tree is planted in Cleveland for every home run hit at home or away games by a Guardians player. Trees provide lots of TREEmendous benefits and we're excited for the community to enjoy those benefits. More home runs ⚾ = More 🌳's! Go Guardians! #SwingfortheTrees #ForTheLand

  • Luther Sanderson is Davey's longest tenured active employee with 59 years of service, which means he was an employee before Davey became employee-owned. Luther's colleague William Gray, supervisor, Upper Atlantic operations, Eastern Utility services, had this to say about working with him: “Luther has supported me more than anybody I can ever recall, and Davey has stood behind him with his decisions and has invested in me. He is a firm believer in Davey stock,” Gray added. “I do my best to live up to the expectations of him and Davey. Being an employee owner and purchasing the stock is part of that commitment." Luther is a supervisor, Upper Atlantic operations, Eastern Utility services. Thank you Luther for your many years of dedicated service and for inspiring others to become employee-owners.

  • Davey's Northlands, New York and New England Markets interns participated in an Intern Day. Intern Day overlapped with one of the Davey Institute of Horticulture Sciences (D.I.H.S.) training programs. The students attended a couple of sessions with the D.I.H.S. students. The interns worked with Arborist Skills Trainers Pepe Ramirez, Adam Martin, Hannah Underwood, and Leo Rolden on their climbing and chainsaw skills. For some of the interns, it was their first time aloft. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible and for working to inspire the future of our industry!

  • We love our interns here at Davey! Happy National Intern Day to our TREEmendous interns! We appreciate all your hard work and for supporting your teams. We hope it's been a great season of learning. Davey interns from the Mid-Atlantic and Virginia Tidewater markets recently participated in the Mid-Atlantic Intern Training Day at Towson University in Maryland. The Intern Day overlapped with one of the Davey Institute of Horticulture Sciences (D.I.H.S.) training programs. The interns were able to receive insight into the kinds of training and development opportunities Davey provides. The interns joined the D.I.H.S. attendees for a liquid soil applications field training session. The interns also received climbing and tree I.D./inventory training. They also learned about our Learning Management System (LMS), career opportunities available and received an overview of Davey. Have a Davey intern working on your team? Give them a shoutout in the comments and let us know about the awesome work they've done! #NationalInternDay #Interns #Internship

  • Happy Birthday to Martin L. Davey, Sr. This photo shows him with his family for a photo in their garden in Kent in 1927. Pictured from left are Martin L. Davey, Jr., Martin Sr., daughter Evangeline and wife, Berenice. Martin L. Davey, Sr., served as president of Davey Tree from 1923 until his death in 1946. Martin was the second president of the company his father John founded in 1880. Martin helped guide Davey Tree through the Great Depression and WWII, both of which offered their own, unique business challenges. Martin is widely regarded as historically the company’s best salesman, having turned his father’s passion for tree care and scientific innovation into a multi-million-dollar business. Martin also served as governor of Ohio. His first term was from 1935 to 1937 and his second term was from 1937 to 1939. He did this all while continuing to serve as president of Davey.

  • Eastern Utility services’ employees, Chris Dodge, groundperson, Dennis Morales, general foreman, and Daniel Nave, foreman, volunteered alongside our client's employees to help spruce up the plant beds at East Marion Elementary School, located in Silver Springs, Florida. Joseph Pate, senior account manager, Eastern Utility, coordinated the volunteer work with Anthony Santangelo, vegetation manager, who works for our client. This is the second year Davey has joined our client on this project. “It’s a pleasure to do volunteer work for the schools because the kids are our future,” Anthony said. The volunteers worked on putting wood chips outside of the school’s entrance and in the back. Morales also noticed there was a decaying tree that could be a danger to the students, so the team recommended that the school has it removed as well. “It was really nice seeing the faces of the kids that were there,” Dennis said. “They were excited as the trucks came in and were responsive to what we were doing. Their smiles made everyone feel good." Thank you for living Davey's stewardship value!
