In a 38-nothing vote, the U.S. House Science Committee has unanimously advanced the NASA Reauthorization Act of 2024, setting ambitious goals for space exploration and science. 👏 This bipartisan effort to enhance the space agency's priorities is being led by Rep. Frank Lucas, Rep. Zoe Lofgren, Rep. Brian Babin, and Rep. Eric Sorensen. The bill prioritizes a robust Earth and space science program, a balanced portfolio of operating and future missions, and other policy support for NASA's mission to explore the Cosmos. 🚀

Space science and exploration are facing challenges. That's why we collaborated with the American Geophysical Union, the American Astronomical Society (AAS), in conjunction with the newly formed Congressional Planetary Science Caucus to host a briefing for congressional staff on NASA's achievements and the current challenges posed by the proposed budget. Discover how we advocated for space science, job security, and the future of exploration. ⬇️ Special thanks to our speakers: - Dr. Jim Bell, planetary scientist and Planetary Society board member - Dr. Ralph Mcnutt, The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory - Dr. Paul Cassak, West Virginia University - Dr. Alycia Weinberger, Carnegie Science - and Jack Kiraly, Planetary Society, Director of Government Relations for coordinating the event and moderating the panel.
