We believe that #parents are their child’s first teacher. Through our Early Family Foundations program, we start our partnership with parents early on – equipping them with the knowledge and skills to support their child’s development and their own #wellbeing. We’re excited to share our new video, so you can hear from parents and staff about how Early Family Foundations has impacted their families’ lives. We are currently enrolling for Early Family Foundations at both our East Palo Alto and East Bay sites. We’ve partnered with Kaiser Permanente to build a new #school model that integrates early childhood education and pediatric primary care. Our East Bay Executive Director Natasha Hall-Sevilla and Kaiser Permanente physician Dr. Kapil Dhingra, MD, MBA, FACEP co-presented at America's Physician Groups' spring conference, sharing how our co-designed model positively impacts whole-family #wellbeing and how it can be replicated in other communities. We look forward to continuing to engage with #education and #healthcare leaders to transform how families with young children are supported at a critical stage of development.

The effects of mental health challenges on learning are becoming increasingly evident. Our partners at Transcend recently shared a blog on how model schools are implementing trauma-informed practices to foster student and family #wellbeing and growth. We are excited to have our Parent Wellness Coaching program be included among these innovative #school models, and for Senior Manager of Design & Dissemination Treyvion Foster to share how our Parent Wellness Coaching program facilitates #community building among parents to support the processing of trauma and promotes #growth at a transformational pace. We’re wrapping up #TeacherAppreciationWeek on a high note with one of our founding #middleschool teachers - Tavish Lopez, Lead Sixth Grade #Teacher at our East Palo Alto site! Tavish modeled the value of #Courage by stepping into a new role at The Primary School to help us design and implement our growing middle school program. Tavish also demonstrates the value of #Community – creating a classroom culture that is committed to community building. He has developed strong relationships with his students which supports his ability to meet them where they are. Maria is a dedicated early childhood #educator who helps her students build foundational skills, develop language abilities, stimulate #curiosity, and foster creativity. Martha began teaching five years ago as an Associate Teacher and has developed into an amazing #educator who creates a loving classroom culture while holding high standards for all of her students. Let’s show our appreciation for Brenda Quezada, Lead PreK #Teacher at our East Palo Alto site! Brenda has lived in #EastPaloAlto her whole life and demonstrates the value of #Community by giving back through teaching children who are also growing up in East Palo Alto. Brenda is passionate about early childhood #education because early childhood experiences impact the brain’s architecture and provide the foundation for all future #learning, behavior, and health. We are grateful to have Brenda on our team as she is always seeking opportunities to become more knowledgeable and to build her teaching skills in order to meet students where they are and support their individual needs.

Happy #TeacherAppreciationWeek! We are excited to highlight an amazing #educator each day this week. Today, we are kicking off the celebration with Maria Duque, Assistant Preschool #Teacher at our East Bay site. Maria has demonstrated our values of #Growth, #Excellence, and #Courage. She began her journey with The Primary School as a Childcare Provider, grew into her current role as an Assistant Preschool Teacher, and will take it a step further next school year as she becomes an Associate Teacher. Maria has found her voice as an educator, colleague, and #community member this year. In addition to being a collaborative team member, she took on the responsibility of organizing and hosting a community park day for current and former students. We are so proud of Maria and we cannot wait to see her continued growth!
