    PROUD MENTOR ALERT 🥹 In January, The Travel Corporation launched its first Global Mentorship Program, offering us the opportunity to either mentor or be mentored by our colleagues worldwide. I’ve had the pleasure of mentoring Brittany Rahimi, a direct sales agent from our sister brand, Uniworld Boutique River Cruises. Over the past eight months, I’ve witnessed Brittany’s kindness, ambition, and incredible sales talent. She has an exceptional ability to connect quickly with potential travelers, earn their trust through her expertise, and close the sale with ease even when challenges arise. Together we’ve focused on career progression, SMART goal setting, and upskilling to prepare for the future. Brittany’s hard work and dedication PAID OFF — she just shared the exciting news that she's been promoted to a supervisory role within Uniworld. Her team will benefit from her experience and approach to sales, and I can't wait to watch her continued success.     Today is International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples and we're excited to share that TreadRight is supporting a very special collaboration between Rainforest Rescue and the Traditional Owners of the Daintree Rainforest, the Eastern Kuku Yalanji Peoples. This project will bridge the gap in Indigenous knowledge sharing through an ethnobotanical guide. One of the main modern threats to the Daintree Rainforest is the lack of knowledge of its ecological and cultural significance.   Collating and publishing an ethnobotanical guide allows for different perspectives (both Cultural and Botanical) to intertwine in one place. As people collaborate on this project they are collectively discovering stories and scientific knowledge that are being influenced by the impacts of climate change. This is an opportunity to walk alongside each other with a shared goal of healing and restoring Country with a resilient future.   Distribution of the book will ensure the remarkable and irreplaceable icon that is the Daintree Rainforest is preserved for many generations to come.    📷: Rainforest Rescue   #IndigenousPeoplesDay #WorldIndigenousPeoplesDay #MakeTravelMatter

    This International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, we’re taking the opportunity to share the story of Johan Oskal, a Sámi reindeer herder from Norway who shed some light on what reindeer herding is really like for him and his family, and what it means to be part of this Indigenous community today. Sámi people have faced many hardships in the past, and their road to recognition and acceptance has been a long one. It was a true pleasure to meet Johan as part of a brand new chapter of #TheTravelProject. What's The Travel Project? It's a Content series where we uncover the beauty and significance of why it is so important to travel. It seeks to show how travel has the ability to create better humans. It’s about exploring and learning about the world and the topics and trends that matter most, and discovering how travel has the ability to evoke a positive change, whether that be on a global scale, or just within yourself. #contiki #traveltogether #norway #indigenous

    We're beyond excited to announce that our No Stuff campaign has been nominated for the Changemakers: Sustainability award in the 2024 Skift IDEA Awards 🥳 Find out why we're saying no to "more stuff" 👇 We discovered that the branded merchandise that we gave away produces almost 6.5m car-driven miles worth of emissions every year. As a travel company with a goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, we knew we had to make a change. In December 2023, we announced that we were no longer purchasing branded merchandise to use as gifts. Instead, we’ll give donations on your behalf to projects that invest in all of our futures, including: 🌿 GreenWave’s Kelp Climate Fund: Every donation will plant 40lbs of kelp which captures and stores carbon. 🌿 Rainforest Rescue's Daintree Project: Every donation will protect 1 square metre of the world’s oldest rainforest. The best part? By December 2024, we’ll have removed a further 1.5m car-driven miles in carbon emissions purely through donations. Isn’t it amazing what a little less stuff can do?

    We are proud to announce our 5th nature-based solution partner, Barena Association, who are dedicated to preserving the Northern Venetian Lagoon, its unique wetland environment, fauna and flora, and Indigenous culture and traditions.    The unique habitats of the Northern Venetian Lagoon are rapidly disappearing, primarily as a result of human impact. Barena Association’s main project is called SOS Barena, protecting and restoring sections of the salt marshes (known locally as “Barene”).    TreadRight’s grant will be used to construct a barrier up to 150 meters long, along the salt marshes’ edge, filling it with mud, then allowing for native vegetation to take root there to continue to act as a natural, long-term barrier to erosion. Altogether, with our support, Barena Association will be able protect approximately 3.24 hectares of the salt marsh and avoid CO2 emissions in the range 17.7 - 59.3 tonnes, achieved through the sequestration capability of the habitats which - without protection - would be eroded.    Learn more about Barena Association and our partnership at:   https://lnkd.in/gHbUSEgS    Note: The Northern Venetian Lagoon is a protected area and we do not encourage its visitation.    📷: Allison Zurfluh #NatureBasedSolution #Venice #SaltMarsh #ClimateAction #MakeTravelMatter #Fishermen
