Solving the most important problems in robotics & AI to enable future generations of intelligent machines
Über uns
The AI Institute aims to solve the most important and fundamental problems in robotics and AI. Headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the research-driven organization unites top talent in AI, robotics, machine learning, software, and engineering to develop future generations of intelligent machines. The Institute’s culture is designed to combine the best features of university research labs with the best features of corporate development labs. The Institute focuses on four core technologies: cognitive AI, athletic AI, organic hardware design and ethics. Led by Marc Raibert, the founder of Boston Dynamics, the Institute develops machines that improve industrial productivity, contribute to human safety, care for the disabled, and help people live their lives more fully.

For the past few months, we've been collaborating with NVIDIA and ETH Zürich to simplify research workflows for robot learning. Today, we're excited to see the result of this work, Isaac Lab, which is part of NVIDIA's latest release of Isaac Sim. Isaac Lab, available today, is an open-source framework for robot learning that aims to simplify common workflows, including reinforcement and imitation learning. "There’s been a lot of work in the field to make robots understand language, where you go from language to a simplified, high-level abstraction to robot actions. But the problem is that symbolic representation, or the list of things a robot can do, is very limited. Basically, robots can’t do very much. So even though we have large language models and large vision models that are very powerful, using them to make robots do a lot of different things is still an unsolved problem." Stefanie Tellex, Associate Professor of Computer Science at Brown University, is one of 12 visiting fellows at the Institute. Learn about her work connecting language to robotic capabilities, her path to becoming a professor and working at the AI Institute, and where she hopes the field will go in the next five to ten years — https://lnkd.in/ey_5StKN
