InspireMSP has been named the 2024 Gerry Rauenhorst Building Community Award Winner! The Minneapolis nonprofit connects the power of imagination with the practice of exploration to create boundless opportunities that change lives and communities. They will receive a $71,000 grant from the Opus Foundation. To honor our founder's legacy of giving, we launched the Gerry Rauenhorst Building Community Award in 2015 along with the Opus Foundation. Fueled by unwavering optimism, Gerry demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and a commitment to finding a better way to build a business, along with a community and values-centered life. With an enduring belief that business has a responsibility to strengthen society, Gerry ensured giving back was a cornerstone of his business, and it remains at the core of our organization today. john williams has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Construction! “PREP-KC is an education intermediary that really aims to ignite the potential in all students,” said Beth McCarthy, the organization’s Director of Community and Industry Partnerships. “Some schools just don’t have the resources to help students think bigger than their circumstances, but we want every student to see that they can set big goals for themselves.” PREP-KC is preparing students for a world of possibility. The Opus Foundation and associates have supported PREP-KC’s vision with the $70,000 Gerry Rauenhorst Building Community Award grant in 2023 and a $60,000 grant in 2024. The ribbon has been cut, and Ari on Fourth is open! Ari on Fourth is a 323-unit multifamily development with 4,971 square feet of retail space in Tucson, Arizona, near the University of Arizona campus. Congrats to the full project team for making this happen!

Our Denver associates volunteered with Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver. The group worked on the Mountain View Homes, a series of eight duplex units – installing Tyvek and exterior foam board, completing the insulation of one unit. In support of this volunteer effort, the Opus Foundation awarded $10,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver. *** April 22, Founder's Day at Opus, marks the date back in 1953 when our founder, Gerry Rauenhorst, signed his first contract. This defining moment was the start of the construction business that evolved into The Opus Group of today.⁠ Gerry saw his business venture as a way to not only improve an industry and support his family, but also a means to improve and support his community. His commitment to community philanthropy became a priority and tradition engrained in our organization.⁠ We celebrate this day annually with company-wide volunteer events. CommonBond Communities has risen to the challenge to provide affordable housing and childcare. Rise on 7 in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, features Rise Early Learning Center, making it Minnesota’s first co-located affordable housing and childcare community. The Opus Foundation provided CommonBond with a $100,000 grant in 2023, distributed over two years to finish out the childcare space and turn blank walls into a creative, engaging and educational place for children to learn and grow. Since 2006, the Foundation has provided Common Bond with $707,500 in grants and a $500,000 program-related investment (PRI).
