The 100th anniversary edition of IFA Berlin, which bills itself as the biggest consumer electronics show in the world, wrapped up this week. The show reimagined its corporate branding, ramped-up its entertainment and launched a “100Moments” campaign to generate excitement with networking, masterclasses and interactive experiences. “IFA has always been and will always be at the forefront of change and disruption. The Center for Exhibition Industry Research’s (CEIR) Q2 2024 Index results indicate that the North American B2B industry’s growth is slowing down. The Q2 2024 CEIR Total Index, which measures overall exhibition performance, lost five percentage points compared to Q1. However, 44.3% of the events sampled by CEIR surpassed their pre-pandemic Total Index performance, which is an improvement from Q2 2023. These findings align with Trade Show Executive’s (TSE) Q2 2024 Dashboard, which reports that growth rates are tapering off in key metric categories. The Seattle Convention Center (SCC) Board of Directors appointed Jennifer LeMaster as the venue’s new President & CEO, effective Sept. 16. LeMaster will be the organization’s first female CEO and succeeds Jeffrey Blosser. She has more than two decades of management experience and previously served as the Chief Administrative Officer of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority. LeMaster is also the President of JL Strategies Group. “I am humbled to serve the Board and team at SCC, a critical driver of economic development and tourism for the State of Washington. As you look across the country, there are very few destinations that can offer the diversity of event experiences and innovative venues in the most exquisite natural environment in the nation as a backdrop,” LeMaster said. #tradeshows #industryprofs
